Protecting Our Clients from Cyber Threats Amid Recent Geopolitical Tension in the Middle East
In response to the recent escalation in geopolitical tensions involving Iran and the subsequent warnings from global cybersecurity authorities, we want to update you on the proactive steps Cenlar is taking to safeguard client data and operations.
Cybersecurity intelligence reports indicate an increase in reconnaissance and “nuisance” attacks, including a malicious effort to disrupt normal website traffic to a targeted server and the unauthorized defacement of websites targeting Western infrastructure. While we have not identified any direct impact on services to our clients, we are operating under a “heightened threat” posture.
To stay ahead of potential risks, our security team has the following in place:
- Threat Monitoring: 24/7 surveillance of network traffic to identify and block suspicious patterns associated with known state-linked threat actors.
- Infrastructure Hardening: We have performed an immediate audit of all internet-facing assets to ensure all security patches are current and default credentials are removed.
- Geofencing: Where applicable, we have tightened geographic access restrictions to prevent unauthorized login attempts from high-risk regions.
- Offline Backups: Our team has verified the integrity and “air-gap” status of critical data backups to ensure rapid recovery in the unlikely event of a disruption.
We are committed to keeping your business safe and will provide further updates should the situation change significantly.
Please reach out to client management with any questions or concerns.
Thank you.
