Hashing Algorithm Improvements

On Sunday, February 19th, 2017, Cenlar will be improving security as it relates to the storage of passwords in Cenlar’s environment. To accomplish this improvement we will be changing the hashing algorithm to a newer, stronger algorithm and will implement a related security “salting” process. This is the replacement of the cryptographic hash function used to secure user passwords for Cenlar’s client-facing applications. This change will not require all users to change their passwords on the first login following the rollout of the change. However, the new hashing process will become effective on users’ next required password change. This should be transparent to users of the Cenlar applications.
Please be sure to share this information with your Technology/IT department so they are aware of the changes being made.
