June 29 Update on Exela Cyber Incident
As we shared yesterday, Exela has told us that it has fully restored operations in the larger of its two processing locations. The processing backlog at this larger volume site has been cleared, and the location is back to business as usual.
Exela says it has worked through approximately 2/3 of the total backlog across both locations, but is still working on fully restoring its West Coast operations. Last night, we expedited the shipment of most of the remaining checks to Exela’s fully restored East Coast facility. Their team is ready to process all of those checks today.
Additionally, there are 100 remaining checks with coupon books. These payments have been overnighted directly to Cenlar where we will process them manually as Exela is unable to do so.
Please know that Exela continues the investigation of their cyber incident, and has confirmed that no homeowner data has been compromised at this time. Exela otherwise has not shared any new information with us.
We’ll provide any updates on the investigation as well as confirm status on the check processing as soon as we are able.
