Cenlar VP Shanth Ananthuni Wins Top Prize at FHFA Generative AI Competition
A team headed by Shanth Ananthuni, VP, Information Technology, won top prize at the Generative Artificial Intelligence in Housing Finance TechSprint hosted by the Federal Housing Finance Agency in Washington, D.C. last month.
Competing in the category of “Assessing Creditworthiness,” Ananthuni and his team developed a use case of “proactive early intervention in servicing,” focusing on using alternative data, linked bank accounts and analytics from prior call/chat history to offer more options to preserve homeownership.
The TechSprint was an in-person, team-based problem-solving event hosted by the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s Office of Financial Technology July 22-25. It brought together technology, regulatory, housing and consumer finance experts to identify use cases and associated control measures to support the responsible use of generative AI in housing finance.
Participants were organized into teams and worked over a three-day period to solve for problem statements centered around the question, “How might the responsible use of generative AI promote a transparent, fair, equitable and inclusive housing finance system, while fostering sustainable homeownership and rental opportunities?”
The TechSprint culminated in a Demo Day where each team presented its ideas to an independent panel of judges drawn from subject matter experts in government, industry, nonprofits and academia.
Lynn Tarantino Named to HousingWire’s Women of Influence
We’re proud to announce that Chief Growth Officer Lynn Tarantino has received HousingWire’s Women of Influence 2024 award.
The Women of Influence award, given annually by HousingWire, honors 100 women who are shaping and propelling the housing economy forward with their impressive achievements. The Women of Influence are selected by HousingWire’s committee based on professional achievements and their contributions to the overall industry, community outreach, client impact and personal success.
Tarantino has more than 20 years of compliance and risk experience managing, overseeing and reducing risk and establishing controls for financial institutions. Prior to becoming Chief Growth Officer, she was Cenlar’s Chief Control and Quality Officer, creating and executing a control framework to manage and reduce risk across the company’s operations. Prior to that role, Tarantino was Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer and BSA Officer, where she was responsible for the governance and oversight of the firm’s compliance
management system, including regulatory change management, examination management and the financial crimes team.
“I am honored to be chosen for the Women of Influence award,” Tarantino said. “Throughout my career, I have had great mentors who have told me to always make decisions based on the organization first, then the team, then yourself. I still live by these words and believe in paying it forward. I have mentored team members, many of whom have now moved on to become leaders of their own teams.”
